SEVEN  REQUIREMENTS  of a TRUE DISCIPLE
According to Yahshua of Nazareth

In my hop-scotch travels through different church denominations, I stopped off in one that said they were the Disciples of Christ or better known as the Christian Church. The Mormons hang that same title on their door saying they are The Disciples of Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was never taught what one must do to become a disciple, described by Y’hshua himself. It involves much more than just putting on a T-shirt or lapel pin and claiming to be one or joining a fellowship that says they are Disciples of Christ. John the Apostle wrote that of the Jews that received Y’hshua’s message He gave power (authority) to become the sons of God. In other words, in accepting Him as a savior from sin, they became “justified” or qualified by faith in His shed blood to enter into the process of being raised up to become sons of YHVH ELOHIM as their Father. A disciple of Y’hshua's is a second time born, spiritual child that matures from having the Spirit over time write the Torah on his heart. He is a disciple of Y’hshua. Here is a list of the requirements for becoming one of these. What might we compare it to in the Law? How about the Nazarite Vow. Samuel's mother placed Him under that vow as well as Sampson's parents and I am not sure Moses may not have been under that or a similar vow. We see from what Yahshua said about John the Baptizer, that more than likely he ministered under that vow. We see Sha'ul of Tarsus in the New Testament doing the same.

Act 18:18 NASB Paul, having remained many days longer, took leave of the brethren and put out to sea for Syria, and with him were Priscilla and Aquila. In Cenchrea he had his hair cut, for he was keeping a vow.

Act 21:20-26 NASB And when they heard it they began glorifying God; and they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law; and they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs. "What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. "Therefore do this that we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; take them and purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and all will know that there is nothing to the things which they have been told about you, but that you yourself also walk orderly, keeping the Law. "But concerning the Gentiles who have believed, we wrote, having decided that they should abstain from meat sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what is strangled and from fornication." Then Paul took the men, and the next day, purifying himself along with them, went into the temple giving notice of the completion of the days of purification, until the sacrifice was offered for each one of them.

So the question. Well do I have to do this to go to heaven? Not at all, it is for only those that want all from God that they can get and Sha'ul spoke of it as attaining unto the high calling of God. So there are degrees of attainment for all. But as Sha'ul said again: He worked harder than them all yet not him but the grace of God.

1.    A disciple or student will be like his master

Luke 6:40 MRC  "A disciple is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been prepared, will be like his teacher.”

2.    A disciple must lay down his “psuche/soulish life to obtain “zoe” (spiritual) life

Luke 14:26 MRC  "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he does not have the power (authority) to be My disciple.

3.     A disciple must take up his own cross

Luke 14:27 MRC  "Whoever does not take up his own cross and come after Me does not have the power (authority) to be My disciple.

4.      A disciple will forsake all he has and deny himself to serve Y’hshua

Matthew 16:24-26 MRC  Then Yeshua said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up His cross and follow Me."  "For whoever wishes to save his life (psuche) shall loose it; but whoever looses his life (psuche) for My sake shall find it. "For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his own soul (psuche)? Or what will a man give in exchange for his own soul (psuche)?”

Luke14:33 MRC  "So therefore, whoever of you who does not leave all of his possessions does not have the power (authority) to be My disciple.” (Example: Rich Young Ruler)

5.      A disciple will bear much fruit

John 15:8 MRC  "In this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so become My disciples.

6.      A disciple will have love toward other disciples

John 13:34-35 MRC  "An unused commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

7.     A disciple will continue in the study of God’s Word

John 8:31-32 MRC  Yeshua therefore said to the Jews who had believed in Him, "If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples; "and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
